Secure Architecture

Architecture that contains incidents instead of helping them spread.

Most network and cloud environments were not designed with security as a primary constraint - they were built for operational speed. CyKnox reviews and redesigns security architecture so that when something goes wrong, the damage stays contained.

Who this is for

Security architecture gaps are rarely the result of bad decisions. They are usually the result of speed, growth, and changing requirements over time.

Network grew organically and has never had a formal security architecture review
Cloud adoption moved faster than security governance could follow
Segmentation is incomplete, undocumented, or based on outdated assumptions
Remote access and administrative paths have accumulated over time
The architecture needs to support real containment in a live security event
A new platform or infrastructure initiative needs secure design from the start

What the engagement covers

Scope is defined upfront. We focus on the areas with the highest architectural risk in your specific environment.

Network segmentation review and redesign
Cloud architecture security review - AWS, Azure, GCP
Remote access and VPN security configuration
Administrative access path design and hardening
Identity-aware access and Zero Trust architecture planning
Hybrid environment boundary hardening
Firewall rule review and simplification
Change sequencing and implementation planning

Architecture design principles

Every design decision is guided by these principles. They are not abstract - they are applied to specific choices in your environment.

Explicit trust boundaries

Every trust relationship is documented and justified. Nothing is trusted by default.

Least privilege

Access is scoped to what is necessary - for users, services, and systems.

Containment by design

Architecture is built to limit how far an attacker can move once inside.

Secure administrative paths

Management access is separated, controlled, and audited.

Hybrid consistency

Security controls apply equally across on-premises and cloud environments.

Visibility where it matters

Critical paths and boundaries generate the logs and signals needed to detect and respond.

What you receive

Current-state architecture review
Target-state design with rationale
Risk-based architecture recommendations
Phased implementation plan
Network and access control diagrams
Decision notes and handover documentation

Common questions

Do you design architecture for cloud-only or also on-premises environments?

Both. Most of our clients run hybrid environments. We design security architecture that works consistently across on-premises infrastructure, private data centers, and cloud platforms.

Does CyKnox implement the changes or only provide design?

The scope is flexible. Some engagements are design and planning only - we produce the target architecture and implementation plan. Others include working directly with your team during the implementation phase.

How long does a secure architecture engagement take?

Typically 6 to 12 weeks depending on environment complexity. We agree on scope, timeline, and deliverables before work begins.

Will the architecture work with our existing tools?

Yes. We design around your existing infrastructure, tooling, and operational constraints. We recommend changes only where there is a genuine security gap that cannot be addressed otherwise.

Security architecture that actually contains risk.

Start with a conversation about your current environment and where the architecture gaps are. We will scope a practical engagement from there.
